My name is CAROLYN TURGEON. I'm a well coiffed world famous authoress and wrote the novel MERMAID (which came out in March 2011, and might possibly be a movie), which makes me a mermaid expert. (My newest novel, THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL, which is about Rapunzel growing up to be Snow White's stepmother, came out in August 2013 from Simon & Schuster.) I also edit Faerie Magazine, and put together a whole MERMAID ISSUE that might change your life.

I know it didn’t come out til the 30th, but I was checking the website and I’ve been to a few different stores looking for it. . .are they still going to be carrying it? Or should I just order online? I was trying to avoid shipping and waiting for the post! 🙂 thanks for any info!

Hi Virginie, I know! It WILL come out, I believe by the end of the year, but there have been tons of delays, mostly because of finances and other issues on the part of the publisher. But she’s getting it together and I hope you will find the final product worth the wait — I worked hard writing and assembling tons of amazing content!

Viriginie, I am done; the content’s been finished for well over a year (though some will need to be updated the moment a real date is set)…. It all depends on the publisher, and I don’t have any control over that. There’s now talk of March, but since I don’t have any control over it, I sure don’t want to make any promises! I put so much work into this (could have written another novel instead! (well, half of one =)) that you can bet there’s no one who wants this thing out in the world more than I do… !
Have you thought of putting the magazine up at a print on demand site? I know I’ve had my eye on this magazine for a rather long time and due to the publishers inability to keep to deadlines am not sure I would feel comfortable buying from then if/when the magazine comes out.
There are quite a lot of option for POD nowadays, from MagCloud to Lulu and more. It might be worth looking into if the publisher can’t manage to get things together. They could either order a limited amount of copies to send to people they owe, or refund and link them to the ordering page.
I really need to make a post about the magazine, for obvious reasons I am a little hesitant to make any more promises when this is really out of my control… It LOOKS like we may be able to get this out this spring. If not, I am pushing for these kinds of alternatives!
Well, I personally don’t feel it’s your fault. You’ve only been relaying what the publisher has been telling you. I know it has to be disappointing for you as well. I think as long as you clarify that this is just what you’ve heard and that you can’t really do much on your end, it should be okay. It’s just nice to have someone with some info about what’s going on.
