Jill Gleeson Interviews Mystic Mermaid Desaray Palinckx

18 Oct

So I have mentioned here the astonishing MERMAIDS magazine that I am editing and that will come out soon from the publishers of Faerie Magazine and feature all kinds of amazing original fiction (did I mention by Alice Hoffman and Keith Donohue and Aimee Bender and Tera Lynn Childs and Sarah Porter and Tara Altebrando and Francesca Lia Block and Matthea Harvey and Anne Caston? just checking) and art and many many penetrating articles, one of which was written by my friend Jill Gleeson, journalist extraordinaire and keeper of the hilarious travel and adventure blog Go Pink Boots, who visited the Denver Aquarium and its Mystic Mermaids. (She also generously visited Dive Bar in Sacramento and wrote about that, too.) As you may or may not know, more and more aquariums are featuring mermaids to lure in unsuspecting landlubbers and teach them about all things aquatic. The Mystic Mermaids show started last year and has become a popular attraction and has increased the aquarium’s monthly revenue by 14 percent. Because everyone loves them some mermaids.

Below, Jill interviews head Mystic Mermaid, Desaray Palinckx:

And here are some Denver mermaids in action:

Isn’t it all so lovely? I would also like to mention that I am currently traveling with Jill in Nicaragua, and shall report any mermaid sightings immediately.
